The Children of Oschon is a heavy roleplaying Free Company on the Mateus server focusing on storytelling and community.

What is Oschon's path?

The Children of Oschon is a mercenary/adventuring company based loosely out of Ishgard. We are a neutral company that does not dive deeply into illegal things, but does sometimes do less than stellar things; as adventurers often do.Our primary focus tends to be ongoing plot stories made for the community as a whole!

--->Magical Work (Paid for Rituals, Enchantment, etc)    03.   Combat Events   What do we want? Fighting! When do we want it? Now! These events are reasons to get up in the morning and get beat up! These can be story related such as hunt jobs given to us by npcs, or as simple as picking up a hunt off the hunt board and then rping it for the cold, hard Gil! Example: The Ants north of Black Brush are causing problems again! Time to put on our big boots and SQUASH EM.

    04.    Social Nights  We have bi-weekly social nights at the estate that are open to everyone in the Discord community! We also open up the tavern known as The Deepeye's Den, twice a month to the public as well! (Currently the tavern is undergoing a remodel and is not open.)    05.    Examples of Past Stories

Assisted a relic hunter in retrieving a rare tome from deep in an Amdapori dungeon.

-->Several sessions spent fixing up our new estate and clearing out the vermin that had moved in; a pack of deep eyes, an angry antelope, and a bear.

Rules

The Commandments

  1. Thou shalt not be a dick.

  2. Thou shalt not god mod. This extends to even small things; attempting to grab something from someone or punching someone--roll to determine results if there is a lack of clarity in any way.

  3. Thou shalt not post for others; in the case of injuring, drugging, or causing something to happen to another character it is always up to that writer to write how their character would react.

  4. Thou shalt not be a racist, transphobic, biphobic, man hating, woman hating piece of trash. Hate speech shall not be tolerated and this includes words like: trap, futa, shemale, dickgirl, etc. If you need clarification please reach out.

  5. Thou shalt be lore adjacent. There is a great deal of lore in FF to work with and we are not sticklers. Hence why we are lore-adjacent, but not strictly adherent to it. That being said, we ask that our members at least keep their characters and stories attached to the lore and follow the basic premises of FFXIV. Example: everything is made of aether. Memories can be placed in crystals. Characters from other Shards; the First, the 13th, are acceptable. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!

  6. Thou shalt do the work. While admin are here to encourage and facilitate roleplay, it is not the job of leaders to provide you with roleplay. Please be proactive and create the events, characters, and stories that you want to see and be a part of.

  7. Thou shalt drop the subject when asked. If someone is uncomfortable with the line of discussion in a chat and asks for a topic change, change the topic.

This community is built by friends and grown by new friends joining. We aren't available all the time, nor do we expect you to be. What we do expect is for you to be mindful of what you do and what you say. This community is a safe space with low expectations. A great deal of love and care has gone into its building over the last two years and we look forward to the stories we continue to tell with one another.As a community founded by LGBTQ+ we have zero tolerance for bullshit. No homophobia, no terfs, no transphobia, no biphobia and that includes no hetero bashing.No bullying or harassment of any kind. Please contact a moderator if you are experiencing this. Whether it be in this discord or in game, about ffxiv races, rp style, ect. You will be issued three warnings if moderators observe/ are contacted about such behavior before being removed from the server.This is a Lalafell friendly server. All Lalafell that join this server must be adults and be treated like adults.

Discord Specific Rules

  1. No hardcore NSFW in the Discord please. We are all adults so what you do in DM's is up to you, but we are trying to keep a relaxed, friendly environment.

  2. Keep discussions civil and remember that general is not your vent chat for anything other than minor, regular annoyances.

  3. This is your warning that the admin team is a bunch of dirty old (28+) people. There are a lot of jokes and teasing that can be lewd but if you are made uncomfortable let us know so we can keep it a comfortable space.

  4. Not everyone has to like each other, but you do all have to be civil to one another.

  5. Please change your nickname on the server to your related character's name!

  6. There will be political talk at times but not often. Most of us are progressive/liberal queers and if that is a problem, this community is unlikely to be a good space for you.

IC Expectations

So your character has found their way onto Oschon's Path? Welcome! There are certain things we expect of the people who work with us.Fact: We are true neutral company.Founded by a Ala Mhigan Refugee Miqo'te the general vibe of the group is not always lawful, but generally leans towards being decent people who often end up in some gray areas. You do not have to have a perfectly agreeable character, but keep in mind they do have to work in a group and listen to the IC admin team.
Your character will be expected to do work in order to get paid. This means doing jobs--attending events: ruin diving, relic hunting, beast hunts, etc.
If they do something that reflects poorly IC on us there will be repercussions/expulsion.

OOC Expectations

Be Semi Active--We understand having different play groups or being in multiple FCs, try to be gentle on yourself and your time constraints and always just let us know if you are going to be gone for a while.Important NoteIt's the player's responsibility to establish the reputation for their own character, no one elses. If you are having trouble with interacting with the group, please reach out to admin! We'd be happy to try and help you organize some rp with other members of the FC and point you in the direction of people they might get along with!

On FantasiasDecided to change your character up? That's fine! If you want to use a Fantasia but keep your character story the same: Come up with a story reason! This is a world of magic! Did you stumble into a magic shop? Did you get cursed? Did you need to hide and found a really shady potions peddler whose glamour potion did more than you thought?That in mind--please do not abuse this. Think before you drink.On Classes and JobsAll base classes and jobs are acceptable and you can multi class within reason. Example: A weapons master could know sword and board, great sword, daggers etc. A student of the arcane could be a thaumaturge and an arcanist.There are multiple ways to learn a job, beyond having a jobstone. We would prefer One main job but do not mind if you dabble in others provided you have a story that supports it. We are not here to stifle creativity! We do ask that you not cause problems for the Children in outside rp.
We do not put hard limits on what you can do.
We only ask that you keep it lore adjacent and look forward to seeing the different takes on abilities and jobs!We exist as a part of a greater roleplay community. Keep it civil and balanced!

Please remember that IC=/= OOC.Do all the members always have to get along in CoO? No! Just like in real life not every personality has to get along with everyone else. Does it mean characters have to hate each other? Also no! But remember to keep it IC and keep OOC communications clear on the matter!For example; Astel thinks your character is a coward! This doesn't mean anything awful, they don't have to fight about it, unless it's something we'd like to try and work through. It's okay to just exist but remember at the end of the day all these characters joined us looking for a home. If they hate everyone, maybe this isn't the place for them?On CommunicationOne of the most important things in roleplay is having clear communications between you, your group, and your partners.

Tips

  1. Be honest with what makes you comfortable or uncomfortable.

  2. Be upfront with what you want to do or don't.

  3. Ask questions when you are unsure about things!

  4. Check in often!

  5. Be patient with each other! Misunderstandings are really easy in text based communications!

  6. Be clear with how you are feeling and don't let things fester. Feel like they might not be interested in rping with you anymore? Ask! Sometimes priorities and interests change and that's okay.

  7. If IRL stuff is heavy, let people know. There's no shame in backing away from rp while you need to deal with IRL things.

  8. In the end we are all adults, chill and work things out.

  9. Never worry about bothering the FC leaders, I may not respond quickly depending on the time of day but when it comes to Company related issues or interpersonal issues I want to help. It's my job as a moderator and admin.

  1. Ishgard--Not only do some of it's members venture into the great city for supplies for the newly reclaimed estate, many of them sell things or do work in the city as well. You could have come across a member or perhaps you've heard the rumor of the bequeathed estate. (A common rumor for Ishgardians to know; a very minor lord, Fevreaux de Authement (NPC), leaving the estate to the partner of his single child, Tellousoix Authement (NPC), who died at Ghmylt Dark. This is now an old rumor as it occured several years ago.)

  2. Business Casual--It is entirely possible to know of the fledgling company through their sales. Notably you would have come in contact with a viera man named Astel Rainflower or his coworker Runa (see Key People) who sell relics and takes on work for people who wish to acquire ancient things. *(If you want to set up an IC meeting let us know!)

  3. The Estate--The estate itself is settled along the newly growing trade routes between Falcon's Nest and The Chocobo Forest and is easily to find by people going through the area.

Oschon's Respite

Located on the trade path between Falcon's Nest and Dravania, the old estate has been fixed up as a base for those walking the path. You are welcome to come rp in our little estate that features a tavern dining area, hotspring fed baths downstairs, and a library and work shop!Please keep in mind that while we welcome people to come visit and rp as needed, we will not acknowledge you trashing our house or causing damage without prior approval.OOC Location: Mateus Empyreum Ward 1 Plot 30
